Just a reminder that our Pitchcare September Sports Pitch Diaries are now live and available for viewing
Sports covered are bowls, cricket, rugby, football, golf and tennis.
The purpose of the diaries is to offer advice and guidance on the sort of work you should be contemplating to keep your playing surfaces in a good condition and fit for purpose.
No two sports grounds are the same, they all have their own set of unique requirements depending on the level of sport played, type of pitches, current condition, amount of fixtures being catered for and, more importantly, the budgets and resources available to maintain the facilities.
It is these wide ranging variables that make our industry challenging and interesting.
The month of September will be geared around increased mowing regimes and promoting a healthy sward.
September will also be a time to organise and begin to plan some end of season renovation works for Cricket, Bowls, Golf and Tennis Facilities.
With temperatures rising consistently into double figures, the grass plant will be become vigorous, stimulating a lot of grass growth, resulting in the need to mow, water and feed more frequently.
Whatever the weather throws at us, I know from experience that our practising groundsmen and greenkeepers will manage to cope and continue to provide a wonderful service for their clubs and players.
