KeithExton.jpgI recently spoke to Keith Exton, Head Groundsman at the Swalec Stadium, to congratulate him on his achievements at Glamorgan CCC.

It was his first time in charge of a Test Match and there had been much media attention prior to the game. In the end it was agreed that the whole five days had been a huge success for Glamorgan, and for Keith, as the last day produced an exciting end to the match with England fighting back for an unlikely draw.

Keith commented that a lot had been achieved in a short period of time to get both the outfield and wickets up to test match standard. He said there is still plenty more to be done to improve the surfaces in the coming years.

Keith would like to thank everybody who has supported him during his 'baptism of fire'.

He received hundreds of emails and text messages leading up to, and after, the Test Match. They were very much appreciated and the support from friends and colleagues was an inspiration to him.

He said that the atmosphere and buzz at the Swalec during the week was fantastic with capacity crowds on all five days.

The event was a total success on all and brought the game to a whole new audience in Wales.
