0 Lantra’s Horticulture Apprenticeships

As a result of recent changes in National Occupational Standards (NOS) in Horticulture, Lantra is reviewing its Horticulture Apprenticeship framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland to ensure it meets the standards required by industry and provides a relevant and comprehensive learning structure for those undertaking it.

Lantra is calling for representatives working in the horticulture industry to take part in a consultation designed to uncover thoughts and feedback on its current Level 2 and Level 3 Horticulture Apprenticeship. It is crucial to establish the views of the industry in order to make sure that the framework and qualifications within are fit for purpose and accurately reflect industry needs.

Consequently, Lantra is holding a working group, due to take place on 12 June from 10:30am-3:30pm where people from across the industry can gather to discuss what they believe is necessary for inclusion in the revised framework.

The event will take place at Lantra House, Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, CV8 2LG. There will also be an online consultation whereby those working in the industry may submit their views. The consultation will run from 17 June to 12 July and can be accessed at www.lantra.co.uk/Standards-and-Qualifications/Consultations.aspx. All answers are confidential and held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Jo-Anne Bryan, Project Manager for Apprenticeship Frameworks, says: "Apprenticeships need to meet the many changing needs of the horticulture industry and we are inviting industry representatives to comment on the frameworks that set out what their Apprenticeships will involve. With industry feedback we're confident that at the end of the consultation process the Horticulture Apprenticeship framework will be completely up-to-date, fit for purpose and valued by employers."

The revised Horticulture Apprenticeship framework is expected to launch in February 2014. For further details please visit www.lantra.co.uk/Standards-and-Qualifications/Consultations.aspx, call 02476 696 996 or email apprenticeships@lantra.co.uk.
