0 Lindum Grows Bespoke for Hampton Court Medal Winners

IMG_1329.JPGSilver Gilt wining 'Tyrrell's Harvest Celebration' is one of four Hampton Court Show gardens that all sported Lindum's innovative grass products and were awarded RHS medals.

Karen Rogers, whose design for Tyrrells showed the story of the potato from seed to chip used Lindum Wild Flower Meadow Turf as a pollination area between field and garden, Lindum Wild Flower and Sedum Mat (a mixture of wild flowers and sedum on a biodegradable felt base) for the roof of her potato shed and specially grown longer, rough grassland turf for her pathway which she says would have been inappropriate had it been laid with gravel.

Anita Smith whose Sustainable garden, 'The End is Where We Start From' took silver, also had specially grown Lindum turf, a meadow mixture of fescues and bents for her 'pastureland' surrounding a single oak tree.

Jayne Thomas, awarded silver with her first Hampton Court design, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' one of the Shakespeare gardens used the same meadow grass mixture, combined with Grassfelt for her wide pathways. "I wanted a Maltese cross effect, without too many joins. The Grassfelt went down like a carpet, was easy to fit and looked seamless," she said.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's medal winning 'A Playful Garden' also sported Grassfelt, with Denis Lloyd and his team chosing the LT2 Low Maintenance mix. Having designed a central spiral path for the children to go down Denis felt that Grassfelt has more substance and would be less likely to tear than conventional turf. "We ordered it in 3 by 1.5 metre strips and it rolled down like a dream," he says.

Lindum also supplied four medal winning show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show.
