Hunstanton 0007A.jpgHunstanton Golf Club, situated on the north Norfolk coast and one of the premier links courses in the UK, has taken delivery of a range of new Ransomes Jacobsen equipment from local dealer Bartrams Professional of Norwich.

The new equipment includes two ride-on greens mowers, three pedestrian greens mowers, a seven cylinder wide area fairway mower, a bank and surrounds mower and a utility vehicle with a mounted sprayer.

Jim Read has been with the club for almost 33 years and is one of the most experienced greenkeepers in East Anglia. Last year he celebrated his 30th anniversary as Head Greenkeeper at the club and says, "We've had Jacobsen ride-on greens mowers here since before I arrived here in 1977 and we had the very first Jacobsen diesel powered greens mower to be introduced into the UK back in the late 1970s. The quality of cut is unmatched.

"The Jacobsen 405 fairway mower with its seven cutting unit has a four metre width of cut, wider than our previous machine and, because of its productivity, has reduced the cutting time on fairways by two hours. Last season we were cutting three times a week, that's a considerable saving and frees up one the team for other duties. With the addition of the two new Jacobsen Greens King IV greens mowers we can now put our tees units on the older machines and refresh our tees mowers."

Club Secretary Bob Carrick played his first round at the club in 1956 and has been a member since 1963. Commenting on the new fleet he said, "We have one of the finest links courses on the East Coast and the purchase of this latest equipment demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that the team here have the very best products to maintain the course in the finest condition for our members and visiting parties.

"Our excellent relationship with Bartram's has been a significant factor in our decision making; their approach to business is very professional and this was evident during our negotiations."
