Major Investment in New Turf Equipment by Wyevale Grounds Maintenance
By Peter Driver
Wyevale Grounds Maintenance, the specialist grounds maintenance contractor, has invested in excess of £600,000 in new equipment for the 2005 season, half of which has been supplied by turf equipment manufacturer Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd.
Some of this new equipment, purchased from TH White Ltd of Tetbury in Gloucestershire, will be used for their new North Somerset District Council contract and was delivered at the beginning of March. It comprised of six Ransomes Parkway triplex mowers, two Iseki SXG19 compact tractors with mid-mounted rotary decks, an Iseki SF303 with Wiedenmann Super Pro FXL rotary deck and a set of Ransomes TG4650 trailed gangs.
Colin Lennox, Contracts Manager at Wyevale commented,
"We have been using Ransomes Jacobsen equipment for many years and it has certainly proved to be very robust and extremely reliable. Coupled with the high level of service and back-up support of TH White, the overall package has provided us with the opportunity to provide a quality service to our clients.
"In North Somerset we have specified the compact Iseki SXG's which will be used to maintain the grassed areas around sheltered accommodation. Presentation is important and these recently introduced machines produce and excellent finish. We also have some steep banks in this region, so the four-wheel drive Parkways with their 10" diameter Magna reels were specified for their traction and cutting ability."
Steve Passey, Grounds Contracts Manager for North Somerset District Council added,
"This is a substantial five year contract with a five year optional extension with a total value of over £10m. We are committed to high levels of presentation across the district and the work will encompass parks, sports fields and general grounds maintenance in Weston-Super-Mare, Cleavdon, Portishead and the surrounding towns and villages of North Somerset."
