0 May Sports Diaries go Live

Just a reminder that our Pitchcare May Sports Pitch Diaries are now live and available for viewing.

Sports covered are bowls, cricket, rugby, football, golf and tennis.

The purpose of the diaries is to offer advice and guidance on the sort of work you should be contemplating to keep your playing surfaces in a good condition and fit for purpose.

No two sports grounds are the same, they all have their own set of unique requirements depending on the level of sport played, type of pitches, current condition, amount of fixtures being catered for and, more importantly, the budgets and resources available to maintain the facilities.

It is these wide ranging variables that make our industry challenging and interesting.

The month of May will be geared around grass recovery, with tempratures rising consistently into double figures, giving the opprortunity to undertake some well needed end of season renovations for winter pitches.

Grooming/verticutting, aerating, seeding, top dressing and fertilising operations will be implemented to help restore playing surfaces.

The recent warm sunny weather will have instigated the need to water, to replace any resulting evaporpotranspiration losses.

Whatever the weather throws at us, I know from experience that our practising groundsmen and greenkeepers will manage to cope and continue to provide a wonderful service for their clubs and players.
