The team at Mid Kent GC in Gravesend has leaf clearance taken care of for the foreseeable future with the purchase of a Wiedenmann Whisper Twister. The Gravesend course which enjoyed almost 11 rain-free weeks during the summer took delivery mid-September of the super quiet blower in readiness for the coming season.

Course Manager, Lee Sayers said: "Already our black Poplars have shed half their leaves, probably a little earlier than usual, so as soon as it arrived it was put to work and it did a fine job."

"For us, it's the perfect mid-range blower which came in at our budget. We've had three Wiedenmann Terra Spikes, so build quality is a given. At the demo what impressed was its flexibility; both the nozzle adjusts and the air flow can be altered hydraulically from the cab. It's fast to set up and we're really comfortable with it already."

John Bignell, Groundcare Area Manager from dealer, Ernest Doe & Sons, Dartford said: "The Whisper Twister has really clever swivel. It goes to 180º with only one hydraulic cylinder so leaves can be blown continuously in one direction without the need to back up. Lee's team found they could work from left to right in one pass without turning around. The nozzle can be adjusted vertically, so that the air stream suits prevailing conditions. A large support wheel makes following contours easy and minimises compaction. But, best of all, it's got an airflow of 200m³ per minute at 50m per second which is the right amount of blow."
