MJ Abbott complete SIS pitches at Chelsea FC training grounds
MJ Abbott Ltd head to the NEC as the only UK specialist sports industry contractor to have constructed and renovated SIS Grass hybrid-turf pitches at a number of our top sports facilities. This invaluable experience and hands-on knowledge over a sustained period, gives them the vital edge as an authority on understanding and managing these state-of-the-art surfaces.

Major projects have been completed at St George's Park, Chelsea Football Club's Cobham Training Ground and at Hull City Football Club, where eight revolutionary SIS Grass pitches have been installed.

The completed works have been highly praised at all three venues for the durability and performance of the pitches.

Chelsea Football Club were particularly impressed with their match pitch, which was the first to be done on the site. The performance during the first season of use and second after a very successful renovation by Premier Pitches were the catalyst for a further four SIS Grass pitches to be installed on the site.

Work has also been carried out at Paris St Germain Football Club's training centre, with the reconstruction of two natural turf pitches and the renovation of their match pitch by Premier Pitches.

Pitch reconstructions have only been a fraction of the projects this year, as outfield drainage work was installed at Somerset County Cricket Club's County Ground in Taunton, and major irrigation and landscaping works carried out at the American Battle Monuments Commission cemetery in Woking, a project the company was especially proud to be a part of.

Golf has also featured heavily on the works calendar, with drainage installation and reconstruction of the West Course at Wentworth Club, drainage and irrigation at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort in Limerick, and irrigation works at Royal Portrush in preparation for the 2019 Open Championship.

Away from the sporting arena another significant project for Berkeley Homes has been completed. This saw the full construction of a 50-acre country park to service the prestigious new Woodhurst Park development.

Work included bulk earthworks and landscaping, river construction works, footpaths, cycle paths, ponds and wetlands, tree planting, wildflower and meadow areas, fencing and river bank work. Storm and sewer drainage was also installed as part of the project that will also see the company maintain the site going forward.
