"Jon graduated as top student in his cohort, achieving an excellent degree and deservedly won the Ransomes Jacobsen Cup", said Dr Andrew Owen, course tutor. "He was a very active member of the group and was of the three students from Myerscough selected by the R&A to examine sustainable management practices on a field visit to Askernish Golf Club, on the Isle of South Uist. He also completed an excellent research dissertation on the effects of heat stress on agrostis stolonifera (creeping bent grass)."

Also presented with a Ransomes Jacobsen sponsored award was James Wood, a National Diploma student from Wigan, who won the Ransomes Jacobson Turf Machinery Practical Award.

Commenting on his award, Dr Owen added, "James has been cheerful, enthusiastic and diligent during his time with us and has produced high quality work. He has volunteered for extra duties and contributed to every teaching session. He thoroughly deserves this recognition.

Ann Turner, chief executive and principal of Myerscough College concluded saying, "Myerscough is proud of its reputation as a leading provider of education and training for the land-based industries and graduation day is a highlight in the calendar as we celebrate the success of our students. I would like to thanks all of the organisations who provide our special awards, especially Ransomes Jacobsen, who work in close partnership with our with Greenspace and Creative Design faculty here in Preston."
