NEW CD-ROM PROMOTES GREENKEEPING CAREERS

The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC), in association with the British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Ireland (GCSAI), has recently produced a Career in Greenkeeping CD-ROM.

All career offices throughout the UK and Ireland have received a copy of the CD-ROM and the GTC will shortly be circulating a copy to every golf club.

David Golding, GTC Education Director, commented: "We are keen to raise the profile of careers in greenkeeping and this CD-ROM will be an important tool in raising the profile of this fast-growing career.

Greenkeeper education and training is fundamental to any golf club's ambition to have their course in the best condition possible 365 days a year, so this development is good news for the industry.

The new CD-ROM provides the most up-to-date information on the full range of formal greenkeeper training courses, the location of the GTC Approved Training Providers, the courses offered and full contact information. Additionally, it includes interviews with working greenkeepers describing the range of careers available and shows some of the wide range of skills needed to maintain today's golf courses.

The CD-ROMwill help golf courses managers and head greenkeepers update their knowledge on today's education and training options. We also hope it will ultimately be useful in recruiting the next generation of greenkeepers and golf course managers."
