0 New conveyor system turns Pro-Cast into materials handler

Groundpro Pro-Cast conveyor close up.JPGA new conveyor system has become available for Groundpro's Pro-Cast range of top dressers. The new elevator now makes this machine a versatile material handling system as well as a top quality bulk top dresser. The front mounted conveyor system is multifunctional and easy to use. It can deliver material into smaller top dressers or trailers, back fill drains and top up bunkers.

It comprises of a cross conveyor belt which feeds the fully adjustable hydraulically driven elevator belt.

This latest development to the Pro-Cast range of bulk top dressers follows quickly on from its new look introduced for the start of 2008 when its powerful spinning action was launched.

North Area Sales Manager, Mike James, says the conveyor system's distinctive engineering makes it a really strong contender for anyone seeking a versatile bulk top dresser. "Even though I'd seen it at every stage of design, the clever way the new chute is carried to the side and doesn't overhang in transportation still makes me smile," he says.

"A bulk dresser has to have a light weight design so it minimises ground compaction yet needs considerable hopper capacity. It has got to be all welded for trouble free operation and minimise maintenance.

The Pro-Cast meets those criteria easily but this additional benefit is invaluable for the likes of golf courses or contractors who as well as needing a machine that can distribute wet or dry loads in excess of 16m also need something with a more finite capability. The conveyor will be invaluable for replacing bunker sand and for feeding smaller dressers or truckster mounted top dressers in under a minute." Groundpro Pro-Cast conveyor at 90degrees.JPG

Contractor Jim Purdie from Lanarkshire-based Purdie Contracts reckons the new development will save him considerable time and effort.

"We've earmarked the PC5 which holds up to 4750 litres - a good size for top dressing a full size pitch," said Jim Purdie. "Our machine is going to be busy anyway," he continues, "but the new conveyor will come into its own adding a new job to its list.

For example if we are sand slitting against the clock, trying to take advantage of a weather window, the Pro-Cast can feed the sand slitter on the run.

The conveyor can feed straight into the sand slitter's hopper. It means much less stopping and starting and losing our momentum. We should virtually be able to do two pitches in the time it was previously taking to do one. Now that's a benefit."

The Pro-Cast is made of 3mm steel all welded construction and comes in four sizes ranging from 2000-4750 litres. Its twin spinner system achieves a spread of up to 52'6" or 16m with either wet or dry material.

With safety a key feature, all Pro-Cast machines have a wide axle track, and low profile design. A low centre of gravity increases stability on undulating ground. Standard features include a manual parking brake, a height adjustable draw bar, a draw bar jack, a high-pressure oil filter to protect the hydraulic motor and digital tachometer for monitoring spinner speed.

Extra wide tyres and a PVC hopper cover are optional extras. An adjustable hitch height fits a variety of manufacturers' tractors from 40-70 hp. Prices start from £14,950 ex VAT.

The attachment is optional on all new machines.
