Paul Clifton has been appointed National Sales Manager for UK and Eire, with responsibility for the management and motivation of the Bayer Environmental Science field team.
He reports to Austin Davies, Bayer Environmental Science Head of Northern Europe.
Paul began working for May & Baker in1978 as a Commercial Horticulture & Turf Representative. Over the years he has seen many changes, not least the takeovers and mergers that led up to Aventis Environmental Science becoming Bayer Environmental Science in 2002.
Regarding future challenges for Bayer, Paul comments, "The market is becoming more competitive. Bayer is not just a supplier of fungicides, herbicides and insecticides; we are one of the very few actual pesticide manufacturers and, as a result, research and develop new active ingredients for the amenity and industrial weed control markets."
He concludes, "We are without doubt market leaders in non-crop pesticides in the UK and Eire, and indeed across the world. With our commitment and investment we will continue to be so. Bayer Environmental Science has a number of new actives in the R&D pipeline, which will be introduced over the next few years providing exciting products to compliment our existing range."
Paul was one of those first involved in the company's signature product - Chipco Green. "This is one thing that has never changed," Paul says, "Rovral/ Chipco Green has always been the number one selling turf fungicide, it's performance is second to none. The brand is now 25 years and still in that number one position."
