New Road Named after Harrod UK Chairman

harrodRon Harrod, Chairman and founder of leading sports equipment manufacturer Harrod UK Ltd, was this week delighted to have a road named after him in the company's home town of Lowestoft.

The road, Harrod Close, runs past the site of the original Harrod UK factory in Horn Hill, Lowestoft. Harrod UK operated on this site from its inception in 1954 until 1984, when it moved to its existing premises on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate.

The name Harrod Close was proposed by Shaun Read, proprietor of A R Motorcycles, whose premises now occupy the Harrod site.

Ron said "It is a great honour and a nice surprise to have this road named after me."
