New scarifier will help improve cricket pitches

Press Releasein Cricket

Worcestershire Association of cricket groundsmen has taken delivery of the new Graden Scarifier which can be hired out to county clubs.

The machine was awarded to the association through the Foundation for Sports and Arts Grant Aid scheme administered through the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Association chairman Godfrey Tromans said: "Cricket pitches are quite often low on the list of priority when it comes to investment at recreational club level. However, a good surface is a fundamental part of any successful club. One of our main aims is to help clubs improve their pitches and general fine turf surfaces which in turn will benefit the recreational game across the county."

He added: "We can now begin to provide a real tangible support to all of our affiliated clubs, small or large. The scarifier along with an aerator and small towing trailer which the association also owns will provide a fantastic resource for clubs to hire to assist the renovation and maintenance of their fine turf facilities."

Details of how to hire the machinery can be obtained by calling the Worcestershire Cricket Board on 01905 429147.
