Notts Sport solves problem of Worn Paths

Golf clubs up and down the UK are adopting the products of leading synthetic surfacing supplier Notts Sport for solutions to their worn paths, buggy parking zones and practice grounds.

Already a big name in the sports industry, the company designs and supplies surfacing systems for a range of activities, including football, cricket, tennis and hockey.

But now its highly durable synthetic carpets are being put to another good use - to eliminate mud and worn grass from the nation's green and pleasant golf courses.

Shaun Patrick, Chief Executive of Notts Sport, explains: "We've worked in the sport and leisure industry for more than 23 years, and have carried out hundreds of landscaping projects during that time, including many at golf courses.

"But in the past few months we have experienced increasing interest from golf clubs searching for a solution to worn or muddy 'heavy traffic' areas caused by last year's wet summer, which has left unsightly tracks running between tees and greens."

One course which has just benefited from synthetic landscaping is Glen Gorse Golf Club, which has a 6,648-yard mature parkland course in Oadby, Leicestershire.

Using Notts Sport's expert service, a VHAF NottsSward synthetic carpet was installed to cover a pathway of bare ground running alongside one of the holes.

Shaun continues: "Our VHAF NottsSward surfaces are ideal for creating slip-resistant paths and quick-draining standing areas, which, because they are available in a true grass green shade and can be laid over slopes and mounds, blend into the landscape of any course.

"They also provide a wear-resistant, clean surface for buggy parking areas, where heavy traffic is always going to be an issue, and because the surface won't need mowing, the buggies don't have to be moved out of the way."
