0 Operation Pollinator training workshop for Ireland

Operation Pollinator logoSuperintendents and course managers in Ireland have a great chance for free training and advice on how to get the best results from ecological habitat management on their course, at a practical Operation Pollinator workshop this spring.

The free workshop, organised by Syngenta and Everris, will take place at Naas Golf Club, Co. Kildare on Thursday 24 May.

Training will be provided by industry-leading STRI ecologists, with topics covered to include:
• What to look for and assessing chances to improve
• Where to establish wildflower areas
• Practical tips and ideas for wildflower establishment success
• Ways to help clubs to maximise publicity opportunities and to attract new players
• How clubs can get involved

Syngenta Portfolio Manager, Rod Burke believes Operation Pollinator ecological habitat management offers an exciting opportunity to enhance the attraction of the golf course to both players and natural biodiversity.

Operation Pollinator training"Operation Pollinator has already created a real buzz among greenkeepers, club managers and players alike," he said. "Reversing the plight of the bumblebee and other pollinating insects will help to prove that golf courses can be managed in harmony with the environment and provide valuable wildlife habitats."

Mr Burke highlighted results of the Syngenta Golf Player Survey identified the strong demand for courses with a natural appearance and the pleasure players derived from witnessing wildlife around the course. However, for the most part, players were largely dissatisfied with the efforts being made by clubs to introduce environmental aspects to the course. "Operation Pollinator provides the perfect platform to address players' concerns and enhance the overall playing experience," he added.
