Otley College, the Further and Higher Education centre of excellence for land-based professions, has signed a rolling five-year preferred supplier agreement with Ransomes Jacobsen, the Ipswich-based turf maintenance equipment manufacturer.
The agreement will result in excess of £100,000 worth of equipment being supplied to the College for use by the Land and Countryside Studies Faculty to maintain the college grounds and to aid student education. To date the equipment delivered includes an Iseki TJ75 tractor, an Iseki TXG23 compact tractor with rotary cutting deck and an ST350 turf utility vehicle.
Ransomes Jacobsen will also be inviting groups of students to their factory to gain experience of a modern manufacturing plant, making and distributing equipment to the turf care sector. Ransomes Jacobsen's Cutting Edge training team will be using the facilities at Otley College and will also train the staff in the safe use and operation of all equipment.
As part of the agreement, the new sports pitch at the College will be named after Ransomes Jacobsen.
Rob Storer, Director of Curriculum said, "This is an exciting partnership and will bring important benefits to the College. Ransomes Jacobsen has without doubt the widest range of professional grounds care equipment available from a single manufacturer. They produce state-of-the-art, high quality machinery and we are delighted that we have secured this partnership agreement with them."
Rupert Price, Ransomes Jacobsen Sales Manager for UK and Ireland added,"Raising the profile of the grounds care industry, and the standards of the professionals within it, is of paramount importance to everyone in the sector.
Today's students are tomorrows turf managers and they will need many skills in order to reach the top of their chosen profession. Helping with pro-active, educational training is one of our goals and this agreement with Otley College is an important milestone for the company, allowing us to make a significant contribution to a leading education provider."
