Parents' anger as rugby pitch is still not completed

Press Releasein Rugby

Cathkin High School's wait for a new rugby pitch is set to continue ... a full year after it was supposed to open.

The school were due to have the pitch opened in February last year, but 12 months on, there's no end to the long-running saga in sight.

And now the work on the pitch is on hold again until the contractor decides on the way forward after sub-contractors Rok, who were working on the pitch, went out of business.

Last year, the Reformer reported that Rok's attempts to hand over the pitch had been knocked back by South Lanarkshire Council, with SportScotland also slamming the shoddy condition of the grass.

In September last year, a spokesperson for Rok said: "The pitch was due to be handed over a year after the rest of our work at the school was completed but a combination of difficult weather conditions and the fact that, as a category B pitch it has no drainage, has hampered its preparation.
