Positive first year for Sanli in the UK

It's an unqualified thumbs-up from SANLI as the company looks back on its first full year of trading within the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Starting off 2010 as a brand-new entrant to the outdoor power equipment and garden machinery industry, Abingdon-based SANLI UK says that it met or exceeded all initial targets during what is generally accepted to have been a tough trading year due to the continuing financial constraints faced by the grounds maintenance, amenity and landscaping sectors.

In terms of actual numbers, SANLI UK delivered during 2010 in excess of 10,000 Chinese-built mowers, grass and hedge trimmers, chainsaws, generators and blower-vacs, supplied to customers by more than 250 newly-appointed SANLI sales and service dealers located across the UK and Ireland.

"To achieve these results, it was important that we put in place at the outset the proper foundations needed by any new company wanting to make its mark in a well-established industry," commented SANLI UK's Managing Director, Mark Osborne. "That involved locating the right premises in the right place and appointing experienced and professional sales and support staff who understand the specific demands of the outdoor power equipment industry and the people who work in it."

With the SANLI UK team in place, Mr Osborne set about building a national sales and service dealer network able to provide domestic and professional customers with the advice, information and support they needed to get the maximum from their SANLI outdoor power equipment.

During the year, the success of SANLI UK led to Mark Osborne's additional appointment as Director of European Operations for the China Engine Group and the Fujian Sanli Engine Company Ltd, a position from which he is now spearheading SANLI's drive to locate and


appoint suitable new distributors for SANLI power products and OEM small engines across mainland Europe.

Having started off in premises covering around 1,100 sq m, SANLI UK is in the process of trebling the size of its warehousing facility for new machines and replacement parts, a development that will include also a purpose-designed service centre.

"We are in a position to meet fully demand for chainsaws and stand-by generators over the winter months and already have in place more than £1 million-worth of stock for the 2011 grass-cutting season with another £1 million-worth ordered and ready to ship," commented Mr Osborne. "The foundations have been well and truly laid and, with a host of new products on the way, we are looking forward to the next few years with great optimism."
