0 Powercut - Twenty five years as John Deere Dealers

powercut Malcolm Rees is the proprietor of Powercut and has recently celebrated his 25th Anniversary as the authorised Dealer Principal for the prestigious John Deere brand of mowers and garden machinery. To celebrate, the MD of John Deere UK presented Malcolm with a special commemorative award in recognition of this impressive achievement.

Malcolm Rees was an engineer by trade and during the early 1980s he would buy and sell used lawn mowers and other small machinery. He would repair and sell them and was very much in demand for his services with customers as far away as Scotland and even the Falkland Islands.

Then in 1987 he was invited to attend a major trade exhibition in England where he met a representative at the John Deere stand. Within a matter of weeks Malcolm had been invited to their head office and after extensive interviewing and a visit to his Carmarthenshire workshop he was awarded official dealership status.

Ever since then the business has continued to expand and evolve whilst earning an excellent reputation along the way.

Malcolm's philosophy has always been to sell the best brands available and the quality of the John Deere garden machinery really appealed to him. In fact, the very first John Deere sit on mower Malcolm sold twenty five years ago is still in use today. Having been serviced by Powercut the mower is as good as new, proving both the high quality of the brand and of the servicing by Powercut.

People are surprised how affordable the John Deere products are. There is a popular misconception that the average person cannot afford a mower from this prestigious company but Malcolm is keen to point out that this is not the case. Because they are so well made they offer excellent value for money. Powercut also sells a range of second hand machinery that is in excellent condition, even more affordable and offers customers the same standards of quality.

Malcolm attributes customer service as a key factor in the success of Powercut. Staff are encouraged to attend training courses to keep upto date in a very complicated and technical industry. Customers really appreciate the specialist knowledge that each team member has. Most of the staff have been with Powercut for their whole careers, testament to the qualities of Powercut as a company and to Malcolm as the proprietor.

Powercut has the advantage of unique facilities including twelve acres of beautiful grounds for customers to practice on. Here all types of conditions can be replicated from field grass, rushes, park land and undulating ground. Malcolm or one of his team will spend hours with the customer to ensure that they choose a mower that best suits their needs and budget.

In addition to the thousands of satisfied domestic customers, Powercut also has an extensive number of commercial customers. These include Swansea City FC, the Scarlets Rugby Club, dozens of the best golf courses and several local authorities.

When Malcolm decided to diversify into selling hot tubs almost ten years ago, he chose the renowned Jacuzzi brand, again applying the philosophy of selling the best quality products. The Jacuzzi is the one purchase that Malcolm believes has literally changed his life due to its restorative therapeutic properties which can give owners pain relief to all sorts of ailments. Malcolm has also recently been recognised by Jacuzzi with an award for his Powerpool Spas business and his commitment to Jacuzzi over the past ten years.

Malcolm has witnessed many changes in the industry since he started, with the biggest one being the advancement in technology. The latest John Deere mower shows how far technology has developed. The Tango is a robotic mower which will mow your lawn while you get on with whatever you want to.

You don't even have to be at home when it is in use and it will even recharge itself when it senses the battery is low, very impressive indeed, but then everything Powercut do is impressive.
