0 Racecourses boost free entry to over 1,316 fixtures to Racecourse Badge Scheme Members for 2011

Members of the Racecourse Badge Schemes for Owners, Breeders and Permit Trainers will each be able to gain free entry to over 1,316 race fixtures in 2011. This increase of number of fixtures has come about because the majority of racecourses have raised the number of days included in the scheme and 33 courses offer all fixtures.

Members of the schemes are entitled to one complimentary badge on days when they don't have a runner. For Breeders, a horse they have bred must be running for them to qualify for two complimentary badges.

RCA Chairman, Ian Barlow said "Let me reiterate what I said for 2010, I am delighted that the badge scheme is going from strength to strength with generous support from racecourses covering most fixtures. Owners, breeders and permit trainers are vital to our sport and the racecourses' dedication to this scheme, together with the continuing development of owners and trainers facilities, demonstrates recognition and appreciation of their support".

Michael Harris, Chief Executive of the ROA said: "It is reassuring during these very difficult times that racecourses recognize the importance of owners by increasing their allocation of fixtures to the scheme. We are delighted there has been a coming together between the RCA and ROA on this important membership benefit. With the lower qualification level, the scheme has become available to more owners and, since it is owners who are the major spenders on the racecourse, the scheme is mutually beneficial. We thank the RCA and their members for their continued support and co-operation."

TBA Chief Executive Louise Kemble welcomes the announcement of the 2011 Badge Scheme and thanked the RCA and its members for generously providing this valuable acknowledgement of the importance played by the British breeding industry. She noted that through the Racing Post Yearling Bonus Scheme breeders increased their contributions to prize money and via the TBA and RCA would be able to watch a horse they had bred run at the majority of racecourses in Great Britain, which in 2011 will include over 100 two year old maiden races carrying the £10,000 bonus.
