Radley1 20080522_0830.JPGFor cricket pitch renovations, groundsmen can take advantage of the newly re-formulated MM50 seed mixture from Limagrain UK which now contains two new top-rated perennial ryegrass cultivars: Venice and Malibu.

The new perennial ryegrass cultivar Venice is now included in MM50, a 100% ryegrass blend. On the STRI's Turfgrass Seed 2009 new varieties table for close mown swards, Venice scores highly for shoot density, fineness of leaf, with exceptional resistance to red thread.

Malibu also has good disease resistance and fineness of leaf, and its high shoot density contributes to the development of a sward which is dense and hard wearing.

Limagrain UK's Matt Gresty explains: "This re-formulated MM seed mixture gives cricket groundsmen access to two excellent new varieties. In addition, the seed in all MM sports mixtures is treated with Headstart which enables a more rapid germination and contributes to successful establishment which is paramount when renovating cricket squares."
