Renovations underway at Taunton

By Editor

At Somerset County Cricket Club, work has been on-going putting the square to bed after a fantastic summer of play, despite the team's poor season.

Head Groundsman Phil Frost and his diligent team of Ground staff have made the most of the continued good weather.

The square has been scarified and all the debris collected and cleaned off.

This week Phil has been busy re-seeding the square with 'Belle Vue', a slightly different blend of grass from 'Sauvignon' which was the seed that he used on the square last season.

Phil said: "Tomorrow three hundred and twenty bags of Essex loam are being delivered. This will be used to top dress the square over the next couple of weeks. Once the main square is finished we will be doing some remedial work on all of the grass practice net area."

When all is finished to Phil's satisfaction, he and his team will be involved with other grounds maintenance duties and painting during the winter months as well I'm sure, as enjoying a well earned break.
