Dr. Milt Engelke, Professor in Turf Grass Breeding, Genetics and Management at Texas A&M University and consultant agronomist to the Jacobsen organisation, was the keynote speaker at a two-day seminar at the Malaysian Golf Course Superintendents Conference in Genting Highlands, about 1½ hours drive from Kuala Lumpar.

He addressed over 130 turf grass specialists and during his speech discussed best practice techniques with regard to root zone management and the benefits of grooming. The quality and number of questions asked by the delegates at the end of his presentation reflected the thirst for knowledge and the appreciation that an acknowledged expert in turf management practices had visited the region.

Dr. Engelke spoke to over 400 people during his 10-day visit to the Far East, which also included seminars in Thailand and South Korea. The tour was sponsored by Jacobsen as part of their commitment to raise turf maintenance standards in this developing region.

In June he was the again keynote speaker, this time at The China PGA Turf Conference in Beijing and gave also gave a presentation to greenkeepers in Hong Kong.
