Shortly before presenting the award, the Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire emphasized that the award reflected the teamwork apparent within the company and noted the willingness of the company to listen to customers and adapt to their requirements. It was further noted that this was second time that the Lord-Lieutenant had made the award to GreenMech, the previous award for international trade having been made in 2005

Speaking to the assembled guests, GreenMech chairman Tony Turner said that " he was immensely proud to win the the innovation award, reflecting a history of design and manufacture at the site since 1963." Turner also expressed his belief that the UK was about to experience a resurgence in manufacturing and that Greenmech had invested extensively in their manufacturing capability, expecting production to double over the next three years.
