A stranded salmon was found swimming in an Aberdeen golf course bunker following the heavy rain at the weekend

Dylan Meinen, Greenkeeper at Peterculter Golf Club, found the salmon on Monday after the course had become flooded after the River Dee had burst its banks.

A five-strong team launched a rescue mission to catch the fish and release it back into the River Dee.

Dylan said, "I was going round the course to check on the damage the floods had caused."

"When I got down to the third hole, I saw that the bunker was flooded, however when I looked closer I saw a fish swimming about."

"I couldn't really believe what I was seeing, so I phoned the course manager to tell him and he thought I was winding him up."

During the rescue mission, the team tried snaring the salmon with a net, but in the end, Course Manager Paul Sharp caught the fish with his hands.
