Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day at Sandown Park Racecourse got off to an impressive start with a presentation to its award winning groundstaff team. Led by Estates Manager, Craig Williamson, the whole team were warmly applauded for being selected as the 2015 Racecourse Groundstaff of the Year in the Dual Purpose course category.
Making the presentation, on behalf of the award sponsors, were Bill Watt and John Richards, of Watt Fences and Pitchcare respectively.
In recent years, the Sandown Park groundstaff team has undertaken impressive developments to the parade ring and winners enclosure, together with major drainage works on parts of the track. These works have significantly improved the appearance of the course and provided a better and more consistent racing surface.
RCA Racecourse Services Director, Caroline Davies, commented, "The hard work and dedication of the groundstaff teams at racecourses across Britain is exceptional. This award to the Sandown Park team is richly deserved."
