Severe Wintery Weather Unfolding

Although arriving a little later than initially anticipated, things are shaping up to deliver the UK & Ireland what looks like a severe wintry spell of weather as we move from January into February. The various computer models that we have regard for are at long last singing from the same hymn sheet - which gives us the confidence to be bullish re the outcome.

Current frosts and the threats of sporadic snow /freezing rain (west & central UK) Sunday into Monday are just the start of it. Increasingly hard frosts will dominate next week - though there will be little if any threat of snow. Nevertheless, with plummeting overnight temperatures, the frosts will get more and more into the ground and sporting casualties are inevitable. As we approach next weekend (3rd-5th) all eyes to the east, as very cold continental air bites into the UK - with rising possibilities of widespread snow events.
