Shameful loss of England's Sports Pitches
An article on today's BBC News website reports on the loss of sports pitches in England - by a staggering 45% over the last 13 years!
Ministers were patting themselves on the back in July when they reported that the number of pitches in the country had increased in 2003/04 compared to the previous year's figures. Not mentioned was the fact that the total number of pitches, 44,000, was some 34,000 less than was available in 1992.
And we class ourselves as a sporting country????
