By Helen Windsor

Six Groundsmen at the University of Sheffield have successfully completed the LANTRA certificate in basic operator training, thanks to the expert tuition provided by Ransomes Jacobsen's Glen Sawyer. ranslantrasheffield.jpg

The University recently purchased a range of equipment from the Selby branch of Ransomes Jacobsen, including a Jacobsen T-Plex 185, a Iseki TF330 compact tractor with a mid mounted mower deck, an Iseki TXG23 with a mid mounted mower deck and a Ransomes Mastiff. The operator training was provided as part of this package.

Leighton Lindley, Groundsman for the University commented, "The training took place over a four day period, and it proved to be both a worthwhile and informative exercise. The tuition that we received from Glen Sawyer was excellent and all six of us passed with flying colours."

Glen Sawyer, Area Sales Manager for Selby continued, "Operator training is becoming an increasingly important issue, not only from a performance perspective, but also from a health and safety aspect. The training courses Ransomes Jacobsen offer are run by LANTRA, the skills council for the environmental and land-based sector, in conjunction with BAGMA and endorsed by the Health and Safety Council.

Ransomes Jacobsen is a Textron company manufacturing a full range of turf maintenance equipment and vehicles for golf, turf, professional lawn care, municipal and industrial applications.
