The club is preparing to make the switch from its long-time training facility in Belvoir Drive, Aylestone, to its new base just off the A46 eight miles to the north of the city.

The move has been delayed by the impact of the coronavirus crisis but last night the Foxes were given the go-ahead to start moving into the complex which they say is recognised as one of the best in Europe.

The club intends to have staff in there by December 9 but officials have today been showing the facilities off to Loughborough MP Jane Hunt.

Mrs Hunt said: "The development is incredible and boasts some first-class facilities that will be used by players from the first team as well as helping to develop emerging new talent.

"It was encouraging to hear how the club is working with local sports clubs to help them to develop their own facilities, and I am looking forward to working with them to help boost sport and physical activity in our area."

The club has said the move to the complex, the former Park Hill Golf course near Seagrave, will boost it on and off-pitch performances.

The new training ground has:

  • A covered show pitch with 499 seats, spectator toilets, and an elevated camera platform
  • 12 full size football pitches
  • Six Part size grass pitches
  • Two goalkeeper areas
  • One attacking area
  • Five warm up and technical training areas
  • A sports hall
