Warrington based Stuart Canvas, the UK's leading manufacturer of bespoke sports, commercial and industrial covers, has been appointed to design, manufacture and install a Hover Cover for the New Subrata Sahara Stadium Gahunje in Pune, in India.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association commissioned the cover for the newly constructed cricket Gahunje stadium for use in the Indian Premier League. Home of the Pune Warriors India, the new Gahunje Stadium has a capacity of 45,000 and will be the venue for as many as nine IPL matches this season.

The Hover Cover is an innovative product designed by Stuart Canvas that has revolutionised the way that major cricket grounds protect their squares and pitches. The bespoke Hover Cover is designed to be quickly and easily mobilized, ensuring rain protection for wickets in less than a minute and reducing the manpower needed for cover deployment.

Edward Stoddart, Chief Executive of Stuart Canvas, comments: "We are proud to have been asked to supply covers for this iconic sporting event. The Hover Cover is the best that money can buy and a great example of British manufacturing and innovation being exported to India."

The patented hover design, which can also promote sponsor's logos, protects the pitch whilst being deployed. Once in place, it keeps the playing surface drier, allowing a quicker return to play than a traditional cover benefitting players, spectators, grounds and sponsors.
