Successful trial for new fertiliser treatment

Press Releasein Industry News

A revolutionary new fertiliser treatment which has been trialed on 12 East Anglia golf courses is to be rolled out across the country after very positive feedback.

The LiquiTec Fusion fertiliser has been specially formulated for golf courses and incorporates humic acid and seaweed extract. This means just one application delivers a whole month's requirement of macronutrients, humates and seaweed in one hit, saving greenkeepers time and money.

Essex-based Fieldfare Amenity has the sole UK marketing and selling rights to the new product, which has been produced by BFS Ltd. Fieldfare Amenity Managing Director, Philip Spencer, has been working closely with a dozen golf clubs this year and the results have been more than encouraging.

"LiquiTec has a number of advantages over existing fertiliser treatments when it comes to golf courses. Because it is a liquid fertiliser, all the nutrients are fully soluble and the fertiliser is absorbed immediately, which means it does not need irrigating. Also, being a liquid application, it's more accurate to apply - there's no waste or over-lapping as there tends to be with granular fertilisers.

"The humates stimulate soil microbes to increase in number which creates a healthier soil environment and, because the combination of humates with fertiliser reduces leaching, more nutrients remain available for longer which means the colour lasts longer.

"The end result is an excellent-looking course and one which takes less time and money to achieve. Our aim now is to take LiquiTec out to the rest of the UK," said Philip, who has 21 years experience as an agronomist serving the farming and amenity industries.

Frinton Golf Club is one of the clubs which has used LiquiTec this year and head greenkeeper, Andrew Pledger, is delighted with the results. He said: "I am trying to follow the sustainable approach to greenkeeping - using low levels of nitrogen and iron for colour. The combination with humates allowed me to go lower levels of nitrogen on my greens without losing colour."

Rob Cameron owner of Toot Hill Golf Club is another who has tried LiquiTec and been very happy with the results. He said: "I played around with different rates and options, and found that this is a good product for a quick 'green-up'; it gave an instant effect."
