Super fast, deep aerator at the Essex

The Essex, one of The Club Company's premier country clubs, has taken delivery of a Terra Spike XF, the latest deep aerator from Wiedenmann UK.

This latest purchase continues Wiedenmann's association with The Club Company (formerly Clubhaus) as they have supplied a new machine every year for the last five years to one of the clubs within the group.

Chris Brook, area co-ordinator for The Club Company said, "We're committed to investment in all areas of the business, especially turf maintenance. Wiedenmann claim that the XF is three times faster than comparable machines and from our experience it is! However, it's not just work rate that makes it such a good proposition; it requires only routine weekly greasing at just nine points so downtime is kept to a minimum."

Course Manager Martin Forrester added, "The XF8 has a 2.1 metre working width and we'll be using it on our greens, tees and fairways. Because of the speed, we'll probably aerate more often and I expect to see an improvement in all areas of the course. We will also be sharing it with our sister club, Benton Hall which is about 10 miles away."

The Essex, located at Earls Colne, near Colchester is a typical Club Company facility featuring an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole short course, a 20 bay driving range, an academy with hi-tech video teaching studio and an indoor practice bunker area. Other facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, two aerobic studios, a swimming pool, six indoor tennis courts and three all-weather outdoor courts.
