As the Courier reported over the weekend Stevie McIntosh, head greenkeeper at Inverness's Kings Golf Club, fell ill during an event at Carrbridge Golf Club on Saturday, and sadly passed away.

Mr McIntosh is understood to have been in his early 50s and the event at Carrbridge - the Stewart Taylor Gents Open - was abandoned after his collapse.

Many of those who knew him have been paying tribute online.

Craig Munro said: "RIP Stevie, another good guy taken too soon."

Lee-Anne Dawson said: "Was shocked to hear this yesterday. Thinking of his family at this sad time."

Similarly Muriel Campbell said: "Thoughts are with Steven's family and his many friends. Absolutely tragic - just far too young sadly."

Kevin Munro said: "Horrible sad news. Very talented golfer and green keeper. Thoughts with Stevie's family."
