Ripon City Golf Club North Yorkshire recently played host to the latest employer focused workshop organised by the GTC in association with Swan Golf Designs, one of the GTC's Quality Assured Training Providers.
Father and son Howard and William Swan gave delegates a realistic overview of golf course design principles and renovation do's and don'ts.
Ripon City Golf Club's Bob Hart, a past Chairman of Green at the club, presented an excellent case study on how he persuaded the club committee and members to embark on a project to improve the course. His honesty and transparency relating to the hurdles he has encountered along the way was instantly recognisable to many of the employers present.
William Swan adds, "We were very pleased to begin the programme of renovation workshops in association with the GTC at Ripon City Golf Club, a client of four years and an excellent example of what can be achieved. We were able to explain how the golf course renovation process is undertaken by SGD, and to use the improvements we have made to the course at Ripon City to provide a real world context to our discussions was extremely valuable.
After all, renovation programmes are easily conceived but it is the delivery that ultimately determines whether they are successful or not. We now look forward to the next workshops planned for September."
David Golding, GTC's Education Director says "further employer focused workshops will be held in the autumn with dates and venues announced on the GTC's websites"
Workshop programmes include:
