The Princess Royal visits Plumpton College

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal visited Plumpton College, Tuesday 11 March 2008.

Her Royal Highness arrived by helicopter at the College and was welcomed to East Sussex by the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Phyllida Stewart-Roberts OBE, and to Plumpton College by Des Lambert, Principal.

The visit included tours of the College's state-of-the-art Winery, the new Children's Rural Education Centre, the Equine Unit and the Riding for the Disabled Centre.

Her Royal Highness formally opened the Children's Rural Education Centre. This is the year of Food and Farming and the College will host over 4,000 pupil visits in the new Centre. This initiative is an exciting campaign to help children find out more about the countryside and where their food comes from through memorable, first-hand learning experiences.

Throughout the Year, farmers, food producers and lots of other organisations will be offering up a bumper crop of ideas and events, information and teaching materials for participating schools.

Plumpton College Open Day, Saturday 10 May 2008, 10 am - 5 pm. This is a great family day out. The Open Day celebrates the successful courses and opportunities at Plumpton College by offering access to visitors.

It is a once-a-year opportunity to discover and enjoy the wide range of activities, tours and displays which bring Education and Training courses to life in a beautiful setting in Sussex.
