The Racecourse Groundstaff Awards 2012 in association with Pitchcare, ALS and Watt Fences
The Racecourse Association (RCA) has announced the details of the new look Racecourse Groundstaff Awards for 2012, including a new sponsorship agreement which sees Pitchcare, ALS and Watt Fences commit their support to the Awards for three years up to 2014.
Celebrating the achievements of Groundstaff Teams at racecourses across the country, the Awards will be split between three categories, Flat, Jump and Dual Purpose. Newmarket, Fontwell Park and Musselburgh Racecourses were victors in their respective categories in 2011.
In addition to the Racecourse Groundstaff Awards, the Neil Wyatt Lifetime Achievement Award will be introduced in 2012 to recognise an individual who has given exceptional service over the years to a particular racecourse or the Racing Industry.
RCA Racecourse Services Director Caroline Davies commented, 'We are very grateful to Pitchcare, ALS and Watt Fences for their ongoing and continued support of the Racecourse Groundstaff Awards'.
Davies continued, '2012 has been a testing year for Groundstaff across the country so we very much look forward to receiving entries from Racecourses that highlight the excellent work that their teams have been doing'.
On behalf of the sponsors, John Richards of Pitchcare commented. 'We are delighted to extend our involvement with these prestigious awards. Groundstaff at racecourses are highly regarded in the sports turf industry, their work is critical to the safety of the horses and jockeys and, as such, the ongoing success of the sport. We are also delighted to have ALS and Watt Fences as co-sponsors, two companies with good reputations for providing top quality services to the racing fraternity.'
Entry forms have been distributed to racecourses with a deadline of 7 December 2012. Winners will be announced shortly after the judging takes place in January 2013.
