warkishire cccThe Warwickshire Groundsman Association held its annual awards at Moseley CC (last night). The WGA was joined by Edgbaston's new Head Groundsman, Gary Barwell, and the Head Groundsman at Rugby School, James Mead.

The winners of the most improved ground awards were

1. Warwickshire Cricket League, Bedworth CC - Kevin Edgar and Ivor Richards, two key ground volunteers here pictured with James Mead
2. Cotswold Hills League, Exhall & Wixford CC - John Canning, Groundsman pictured with Gary Barwel
3. Birmingham League, Stratford-upon-Avon, CC, Groundsman John Bishop with Laurence Gale from Pitchare.com

Surridge kindly donated fleeces as prizes for the winners and the Warwickshire Cricket Board Pitch Advisers, Geoff Calcott and Dick Chase.

The evening was followed up with splendid talks by James Mead and Gary Barwell and attended by 25 Warwickshire groundsmen.
