Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club has scored MyLocalPitch's December Outstanding Sports Facility Award.

Tooting and Mitcham operates as a 'not for profit' company with charitable aspirations while also promoting sport, health, education and social enterprise in the local community.

Furthermore, Tooting & Mitcham FC has recently joined the grassroots football revolution after becoming one of the first facilities to sign-up to a ground-breaking project between the Football Foundation and MyLocalPitch. Facilities involved gain access to MyLocalPitch's innovative booking portal to make it simpler to find and book physical activity sessions.

This outstanding multi-purpose venue is located along the river Wandle, situated between Sutton and Merton, and additionally offers match day hospitality, hockey and rugby compliant 3G pitches, soft play, a gym with qualified personal training, a range of catering options, disability access and ample parking.

The community club has an ongoing mission of helping locals reach their potential and realise dreams in a safe and secure environment regardless of ability.

This final grassroots award for 2018, which is determined by MyLocalPitch users, is based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience.

MyLocalPitch is a platform for sports players who want to find and book sports venues in London. Users have the choice of over 9,000 of the best venues around the UK for 17 featured sports. The service has most recently launched in Brighton.

Jackie Watkins, Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club Manager said: "As a community club who specialises in Health, Education, Sport and Enterprise using MyLocalPitch has helped us reach out to new people and take the strain out of pitch booking. We continue to assist MyLocalPitch with the development of their site which benefits us both and other users. We would like to thank MyLocalPitch for giving us this opportunity."

Cllr Stephen Alambritis, Merton Council Leader, added: "I am so pleased that Tooting and Mitcham FC is in my ward in Merton with great facilities available to residents who themselves recognise the need for increased physical activity and use those facilities frequently. I want to applaud the club on its grassroots football approach and congratulate everyone there on being recognised by MyLocalPitch for the club's outstanding sports facilities."

Jamie Foale, Co-Founder of MyLocalPitch, commented: "Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club stands proud in the local area to provide the perfect place for people to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Sport acts as a fantastic platform for delivering life lessons in the community and congratulations to Jackie, Josie and the rest of the team."
