Having their golf course or football ground at the centre of a 25km rain radar map showing projected rainfall for the next 90 minutes and the ability to ascertain spraying conditions over a 7 day period are just two possible reasons why Headland's Weathercheck is proving a success with Greenkeepers and Groundsmen.
"It's probably one of the only weather forecasting services tailored specifically to the needs of Turf Managers" says Headland's Technical Director Mark Hunt. "Our long-standing partnership with Meteoblue, (a specialist meteorology company in Basel, Switzerland) lead to work incorporating the latest forecasting technology that focuses on a specific location."
Turf Managers are able to access vital, personalised information on temperature, wind speed and direction as well as rainfall, with the choice of a general 7 day forecast or a more detailed projection, which breaks down into three hour segments (and graphically illustrates rainfall intensity and timing) providing an extremely accurate overview of conditions.
The innovative 'RainNow' option produces a 25km 'rain radar map' with their sports facility at the centre, and by using the Agronomic module, which combines anticipated rainfall, wind strength, precipitation, air temperature and evapotranspiration they are able to accurately judge spraying conditions over the coming week.
In addition, anyone receiving the Weathercheck package also receives a weekly weather report from Mark Hunt with details of the agronomic consequences and thorough advice on how to deal with them.
