Staffordshire engineering firm, Turfmech Machinery Ltd, has announced that the manufacturing, distribution and intellectual property rights to the entire Turfmech-branded range of specialist grounds and turf care equipment have been acquired by Christopher Harris and Michael Driver of E U Distribution, based at Unit 9b, Weydown Road Industrial Estate, Haslemere, Surrey.
With immediate effect, sales and after-sales service for all former Turfmech-branded products are being managed by Richmonds Groundcare, an E U Distribution brand located also at the above address (Contact: Adam Greenslade, tel: 01428 658487).
Products covered by the acquisition include the CAT 800 ride-on core and thatch collector, the SQRL 600 pedestrian greens sweeper, the TM5 and TM10 trailed vacuum sweeper-collectors, the three model range of Tornado tractor-mounted debris blowers and the EarthQuake Tremor, a rotary turf decompactor available in three working widths.
Speaking following the signing of the agreement, Turfmech Machinery's managing director, Austin Jarrett, said that the sale of the former Turfmech-branded product line had been prompted by the sustained growth and expansion of the Allett pedestrian cylinder mower range, acquired by Turfmech in 2007 and now encompassing machines for domestic, semi-professional and professional applications.
"This is a planned and strategic move by the company," he commented. "We have taken the decision to exit the golf market and focus on the development, manufacture and distribution of Allett mowers and associated Allett turf-care equipment aimed at the wider sports, amenity and domestic markets in Britain and overseas. For Turfmech Machinery Ltd, the future lies with the Allett brand."
Affirming his commitment to past, present and future owners and users of former Turfmech-branded machines, Christopher Harris pointed out that the range is an excellent fit with his company's other brands which, in addition to forestry, arboricultural and groundcare equipment distributor, Richmonds Groundcare, include TYM Tractors UK, Farmtrac and Landforce Chippers.
"We look forward to working with Turfmech's former customers and dealers to ensure that they continue to receive the same high levels of service and support that they have enjoyed previously," he said. "The products are well known and highly respected and we intend keeping it that way."
