Charterhouse Turf Machinery always try to bring something new to BTME and 2014 was no exception. Visitors were able to see the Redexim Double Disc Seeder and Speed-Brush for the first time in the UK.

The new Double Disc 1830 overseeder buries the seed up to 20mm (3/4") deep in the ground, safe from the beaks of hungry birds and out of the way of the wind.

At a working width of 1.83 metres, the machine is fully adjustable for any type of seed and has a 300 litre hopper. With disc spacing of 30mm the DD1830 places the seed effectively and accurately drops the seed between the blades into the groove. A 65hp tractor requirement sees the Overseeder taking undulating ground firmly in its stride and promises good germination rates.

Going down a storm at the Redexim demonstration event in Holland last year, the Speed-Brush made its UK debut at BTME 2014.

This is a towable grooming machine with two round brushes that rotate in the opposite direction to that of travel. This action effectively brushes sand into the canopy and is an excellent tool for lifting lateral shoots on a golf green, providing a more even cut and a superior putting surface.

The Speed-Brush can be pulled with almost any prime mover; it has quick adjustments and will work well with wet or dry sand.

As one would expect, the Charterhouse stand included other machines from the Redexim stable, but one worthy of particular note is the Rink DS800 Top Dresser.

This can be either t

railed behind a 30hp compact tractor with the benefit of 4 wheels on an articulating axle, or fitted to a John Deere Pro Gator or Toro Workman truck for a light foot print.

It has a variable spread pattern up to 12m (36ft) and gives a very good finish due to the dual spinners which can apply precise amounts of material, even if the material is wet.

A cross conveyor can be specified for both versions, for bunker filling and other material handling tasks. As standard, the DS800 has the benefit of a hydraulic rear door on the 0.80 cubic metre, shallow hopper which negates the need for a vibrating block option.
