UK national action plan for the sustainable use of pesticides (plant protection products)

Consultation start: 30 July 2012
Consultation end: 22 October 2012
Summary

This consultation invites views on the draft UK National Action Plan (NAP) for pesticides. This is the next stage in the implementation of the EU Directive on the sustainable use of pesticides which was transposed into UK law on 18 July by the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012. The National Action Plan (NAP) is designed to ensure that plant protection products can be used sustainably in the UK and is to be developed in consultation with stakeholders including members of the public.

This consultation is now closed.

The summary report provides an indication of the breadth of views expressed across the range of stakeholder groups that responded. As a result of the consultation, the NAP has been reviewed in the light of comments received. The priority areas for action remain the same:

protection of water;
consistency of practice by non-agricultural users; and
development of integrated approaches.

However, the revised NAP develops some of these themes and also makes it very clear that the plan will be developed over time as a 'living' document.
