International children's charity Right To Play featured UrbanTurf® artificial grass within its live-art installation as part of the Art of Giving private preview event held last month at London's Saatchi Gallery.
The aim of the exhibit was to invite the celebrity guests attending the event to throw or kick a variety of paint-covered sports balls at a white canvass, to create a unique piece of sport-themed art to be auctioned for charity.
In order to preserve the white walls and pristine interior of the Saatchi Gallery, Right To Play wisely chose to encase its paint-splattered installation within a Perspex cube. And to protect the gallery's flooring, it was decided to follow the theme of sport to its natural conclusion by laying artificial turf as a platform for the 'artists' to work their creative magic.
The Right To Play event organisers asked the Leicester based company to contribute to the exhibit when their imaginations were captured by the eye-catching range of coloured grasses, which would enable them to create a stunning installation that would steal the show.
Following a period of consultation and brainstorming, UrbanTurf® hit upon the perfect display - a green lawn area constructed from UrbanTurf® Traditional, to give the design a 'natural grass' effect. Into the lawn, the company's in-house installers then cut a series of paint splashes using a range of colours from the UrbanTurf® Designer collection. The end result provided a stunning accompaniment to the overall exhibit, which was a triumph for Right To Play.
"Without their support, we simply could not have made the evening the success that it was," commented Kate Burt, National Director, Right To Play UK. "Guests to our room left discussing little else but the box and turf upon which it sat.
The evening was extremely successful, allowing Right To Play to raise funds and awareness on behalf of children on their programmes across the world. This will allow them to build Safe Play Spaces for children in refugee camps, help girls and children living with disabilities a chance to play sport and acquire key skills, and give hundreds of children access to education and sporting opportunities otherwise denied to them.
As the Art of Giving event has shown, the UrbanTurf® Designer collection is more than just artificial grass - it is a statement of art. From classic blacks to vivid primaries, each of the colours chosen for the range is 2-tonal, enhancing visual perception and giving a feeling of depth. For stunning shades including Topaz, White Diamond and Amethyst that can enhance retail displays, create designer rugs or even add that wow factor at exhibitions, UrbanTurf® Designer will appeal to those who want to stand out from the crowd!
