Professional and residential users will have a choice of five all-new Massey Ferguson walk-behind rotary mowers for the 2008 season

Available from appointed Massey Ferguson dealers throughout Europe, the newly-expanded range now comprises six self-propelled machines with cutting widths of 48cm, 53cm and 84cm all capable of mulching cut grass, returning it to the ground to act as a natural green fertiliser.

massay-mowers.jpg The decision to enlarge the walk-behind mower range follows an exceptional first
12 months across Europe for Massey Ferguson's new lawn and garden products, with total retail sales of more than €7.5 million (£5.6 million) recorded during 2007.

Complementing the extended line-up of MF walk-behind mowers for 2008 will be 10 new ride-on mowers and garden tractors which, together with two new 1500 Series compact tractors, further reinforces Massey Ferguson's stated aim of becoming a major force in the professional, estate and top-end residential grass and grounds care market across Europe.

Massey Ferguson's walk-behind mower range for 2008 encompasses six models, five with 3-in-1 cutting systems capable of collecting or mulching or discharging grass clippings, to suit user requirements and grass conditions. The sixth machine is the MF 33SE wide-cut mower, which has a 2-in-1 cutting system able to discharge grass to the right-hand side or mulch it, using the standard mulch kit.

Ideal for professional users with larger areas of rougher grass to maintain, the new MF 33SE has an 84cm cutting width and is powered by a 10.5hp (7.8kW) Briggs and Stratton petrol engine with a four forward, one reverse speed transmission.

A combination of castering front wheels and large, 40cm diameter rear drive wheels give the MF 33SE superb manoeuvrability and the capacity to deal comfortably with a wide range of conditions, including slippery and sloping ground. Central cutting height adjustment from 25mm to 100mm and fully-foldable handles make this machine a great choice for contractors, landscapers and grounds staff in the public or private sectors.

Also equipped with castering front wheels is the semi-professional 53cm cut MF 21S, formerly known as the MF 21SE. Power to collect, mulch or discharge grass to the side or the rear comes from a 6hp (4.5kW) Kawasaki petrol engine with forced pressure lubrication. This model has variable speed traction drive and central cutting height adjustment from 35mm to 95mm.

The four remaining Massey Ferguson walk-behind rotary mowers new for 2008 are the MF 19SK and MF 19SHWK (48cm cutting width) and the MF 21SK and MF 21SHWK (53cm cutting width). All four machines are powered by 6hp (4.5kW) Kawasaki petrol engines and have 3-in-1 cutting systems capable of mulching, bagging or discharging cut grass to the side.

The principal difference between these four machines is the size of the rear wheels. Both the MF 19SHWK and MF 21SHWK have 30cm diameter rear wheels compared with the other two models' 20cm diameter rear wheels. Massey Ferguson recommends
the larger diameter wheels for users requiring improved traction and stability on sloping or uneven ground.

Recommended retail prices of Massey Ferguson's 2008 walk-behind mower line-up range from £399 for the MF 19SK to £1,499 for the MF 33SE wide cut mower.
