A new artificial surface for use on both indoor and outdoor multi-use games areas has just received a seal of approval from Worcester Warriors Rugby Club.

Having been promoted to the Rugby Union Premiership at the start of the 2004/05 season, Worcester Warriors decided that their training facilities also required moving up a division.

The existing fibre sand product was removed from the indoor training facility and was replaced by Poligras Premium MT65 artificial grass which was laid over a pre-fabricated shockpad by Kent based contractors Active Leisure Contracts. The indoor facility is used by the 1st team squad for training, including line-out and scrum practice.

Poligras MT is a specialised product developed primarily for Rugby. It uses slide friendly 'monotape' technology, combined with a unique polyurethane backing and is laid over a sock absorbing foam underlay.

"The coaching staff and players were complaining that the previous fibre and sand surface was too hard and very draining on energy levels" commented Mike Robins, Operations Director of Worcester Warriors. Mr Robins continued "It was then that we decided to opt for the rubber filled artificial surface with the latest shockpad. The new training area is working better than anticipated, is much easier to maintain and without the need of keeping the surface wet; has a better training climate for our players. It also brings more commercial benefits with the chance of holding indoor football tournaments and other activities."
