Weather playing havoc with weekend’s sport

Sports fans across Shropshire and further afield were today keeping an anxious eye on the weather ahead of the weekend's action.

AFC Telford United's Blue Square North clash at Northwich Victoria was a casualty, with the match called off early this afternoon because of a frozen pitch.

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury Town's League Two trip to Rochdale must overcome a 10am inspection on Saturday.

Darlington call for volunteers to clear snow

Darlington will offer free tickets for Saturday's game against Northampton Town to any fans who help clear the Arena of snow.

The Quakers' game against the Cobblers will only take place provided the snow can be cleared in time.

Staff, fans, youth team players and the groundsmen are planning to work all evening to remove snow from the pitch.

The club are calling on more fans to volunteer, with free tickets on offer to anybody who helps.
