Weedfree 0131.jpgWeedfree Garden Services Ltd has taken delivery of the first new Ransomes Highway 3 light commercial triple mower to roll off the production line at Ransomes Jacobsen's manufacturing plant in Ipswich.

Local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, Platts Harris of Tuxford, delivered the new machine to the family-owned grounds maintenance contractor, who are based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, The new triplex mower was delivered in time for the start of the company's grass cutting season on March 1.

Tim Bower is a director of the company, which employs 13 staff and began trading in 1992 from a small office in the family home. Commenting on the new mower he said, "The Highway 3 replaces our old Highway 213, which we bought second-hand and is at least 15 years old. We first saw the Highway 3 at a demonstration day at North East Derbyshire Council, where it was very impressive and resolved many of the issues relating to the old 213.

"I can honestly say I would recommend the Highway 3 to anyone. It's compact, fits comfortably on our trailer within the weight limits and the quality of cut is excellent. It has also reduced our cutting time by 50%, so it has significantly improved productivity, justifying what a good investment it is for the business. Ours has a lighting kit and we've registered it for road use, should we need to use it close to our depot.Weedfree 0124.jpg

"Until we purchased this mower, we had not been a customer of Platts Harris, but the service from them, and from Ransomes Jacobsen, has been fantastic. They are always on hand to provide ongoing help and support."

The Highway 3 was launched at SALTEX last September and been a major success for Ransomes Jacobsen, with a full order book through to the end of July. It has many unique features for a commercial ride-on mower including a swing out centre cutting unit and an electronic stability enhancement system.

Weedfree Garden Services began as a domestic garden contractor but has expanded over time to provide commercial grounds maintenance, landscaping, garden design, turfing, fencing, lawn treatment and maintenance, environmental hygiene and window cleaning. The company is now one of the largest, privately-owned grounds care contractors of its kind across the East Midlands. More information is available at www.weedfreegardenservices.com.
